National Trekking Expedition
A TREKKING EXPEDITION ON GOAN BEACHES AND WESTERN GHATS
The participants will enjoy a splendid panorama of hills, sandy beaches, refreshing waterfalls, beautiful landscapes, breath taking groves of palm tress, sun kissed waterways, Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary and Dudhsagar falls. The hilly trek of Western Ghats provides trekking trails as steep and difficult as the Himalayan climbs. The trekking route will therefore, offer the same thrills and excitement as in any mountain with some additional attractions like bus ride, and rail journey in the western ghats
Fees: - Rs.4200/- per participant (YHAI membership compulsory) The fees will cover stay in tented accommodation, simple nutritious vegetarian meals, expert guidance, equipment and insurance. Participants will bear to and fro travel expenses from their home to the base camp. Payment of fees by Demand Draft or At Par Payable Cheque only in favour of "NATIONAL TREKKING EXPEDITION - GOA" payable at Panaji, Goa.
Adventure scholarships 50% on registration fee for the handicapped youth.
Dates :- The first group will report at base camp on 15th December 2017. Participants can join on any date thereafter till 31st December 2017. Duration of trek will be 8 days.
How to participate :- The strength of group shall normally be 50. Members desirous of joining the programme may apply on a prescribed Registration Form
duly supported by a Medical Certificate, which is attached with the form. Photocopies of the forms are acceptable. The minimum age for participation is 10. Form should be sent along with draft of participation fee.
How to reach the Base Camp : The base camp is located at Sports Authority Ground, Near Miramar Beach, Panaji Goa. The nearest railway stations are Thivim (25Kms), Karmali (12 km) and Margao (33km.). State bus service is available. Direct bus service is also available from Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore & Mangalore. Direct trains are available from Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and major cities of India.
Cancellation :- In case you are unable to join the trek after paying the participation fee, you will get a refund of 50%- provided your request is received directly in the office of Goa State Branch (not by email) before 25th November 2017. No refund will however, be admissible if such cancellation request is received after 25th November, 2017. Please mention your bank details in the cancellation letter for easy refund.
What you should bring :- Rucksack (if you have one) cotton shirts, cotton pants, sun cap, Hunter shoes, 2 pairs of cotton socks, torch, water bottle, lunch box, enameled or steel mug or tumbler, plate, spoon, pen-knife, needle, thread, goggles, cold cream or Vaseline, soap, toilet paper, towel, medicines (which you
normally use at home) camera optional.
Risk Factor:- This is a low risk adventure programme The following risk factors can affect the participants:
1. Exhaustion due to climb or down
2. Fall during climb or down leading to ordinary or serious injuries.
3. Drowning (if participants go for a swim which is strictly prohibited).
4. Any unforeseen event
All the above risk factors can lead to simple / serious injury, temporary / permanent disability. YHAI will provide adequate assistance in the above circumstances but cannot be held responsible for any risk mentioned or not mentioned above.
USE OF ALCOHOL AND NARCOTICS OF ANY DESCRIPTION ARE STRICTLY PROHIBITED DURING THE COURSE OF THE PROGRAMME.
Safety: - Extensive and painstaking preparation have gone into the planning of trek routes for your safety. Our field staff and experienced camp leaders have been visiting the area to check all details. The Youth Hostels Association of India,
cannot be held responsible for any accidents, illness and any such unforeseen eventualities. Deviation from the set route of the program is not permitted. If the participant desires to join any other activity, they may do so at their own responsibility and risk only after finishing the trek and checking out. YHAI group insurance cover is for accidental death or permanent disability only. You are advised to take insurance cover for your journey and other related matters.
Certificate:- Participants who successfully complete the trek and abide by the discipline of the program will be awarded certificates.
Special Casual Leave :- The Trekking Expedition organised by Youth Hostels Association of India have the approval of Ministry of personnel, public Grievances and pension, (Dept of Personnel and Training), Government of India. vide office order no.28016/89/Est(A). Dt. 25th October 1989 .Participants working in the Central Government organization can apply to the authorities concerned for availing special casual leave for the duration of the expedition. Their office can sanction up to 30 days of this leave in a calendar year.
Attention :- This is an environment friendly trek. Do not litter any wrapper or spoil the trail in any way.

Orientation, Evening trek from
Mobor Beach to Benaulim Beach [12 kms] (Base Camp to Mobor by bus)
Benaulim to Velsao Beach ( 10 kms)
Collem to Dudhsagar ( 10 kms) (Velsao to Collem by train)
Dudhsagar to Kuveshi (12 kms) (Via Dudhsagar waterfalls)
Kuveshi to Anmod (14 kms)
Anmod to Tambdi Surla (15 kms) to base camp by bus.
